patience is the key to success

Why are people so impatient?

Well, rather than saying that this person being impatient is just who they are, I think the biggest culprit of impatience in this day and age (2021), is instant gratification.

To put it formally, instant gratification, according to Positive Psychology.com, "is a term that refers to the temptation, and resulting tendency, to forego a future benefit in order to obtain a less rewarding but more immediate benefit."

So basically instant gratification is getting something you want right when you want it. This phenomenon is basically the essence of social media - when you scroll through the endless content filled with photos, posts, and videos, you never really have to wait. You see something new essentially every second and your attention is grabbed constantly by the next immediate thing you see.

I think if you're someone who uses social media almost every day, you're used to the feeling of instant gratification and thus when you encounter something that doesn't give you the results right away, you get frustrated or upset much more easily and probably are more likely to give up the journey faster than someone who is a bit more patient and willing to go the extra mile to get the long-awaited reward.

So, now let's talk about why patience is so important. As most of us know, social media is right in the palm of our hands or at our fingertips. And that's the only it's at. In the real world, outside of booty pics and always looking out for the "next big thing", you need patience if you're gonna create something that has some real value to it and that is worth working for.

You have goals, things you wanna achieve, things you wanna do. But the truth is, anything worth having in the long-term is not gonna magically create itself overnight.

weight loss pills

This is why overnight weight loss tricks don't work for your long-term weight loss goals. Eating that weight loss pill or not eating for a couple days is a plan for failure if you're trying to keep that weight off for life.

In order to get money, get recognition, respect, raise a child, create trust and affection with another person, all of that stuff takes time.

Whether it's genuine love for something or wanting to build a complex but amazing project, it takes. time.

And I know, I know, sometimes it's just so. freakin. difficult. to be patient.

You have off days, or there's just a constant flow of bad luck that seems to just shove all the shit your way and you just wanna give up and throw all your efforts in the can. But that's the thing. It's not gonna be easy. It's supposed to be hard, because that's the way you learn.

You learn through your struggles and what you have trouble with, so that you can improve on it and be better at it. Patience is the key to building something amazing. You believe in this goal, you believe in yourself and your skills, you just need to have the patience to keep going, to get over your mistakes, to improve on your actions, and to improve yourself.

When you keep going, you're always gonna be improving, and the longer you keep going, the less competition you'll have. But the main point is, improving with patience. You're always becoming better and improving yourself, and getting closer to the goals that will bring you a life you're proud of.

Lastly, I want you to think about this. Try to think of a time when you were debating going for something, whether it was to learn a new skill or to take a course, anything.

But it was gonna take you some time - like 2 months or half a year, or even a full year. Well, let me say this: time is gonna pass by either way... do you wanna have a year worth of skills or a year filled with regret?
